Staff Product Engineer

Leads technical architecture while building front-end and back-end systems for a scalable SaaS product. The role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, mentoring, cross-functional collaboration, and a focus on reliability and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the technical architecture as the product scales to serve requests from customers worldwide.
  • Balance agility with scalability and availability through continuous deployment and incremental, feature-flagged releases.
  • Contribute to all phases of software development, including ideation, prototyping, design, and implementation.
  • Build both back-end and front-end systems in collaboration with designers, product managers, researchers, and data analysts.
  • Provide hands-on development, technical leadership, and architectural guidance.
  • Coach and mentor engineers and support their hiring and career development.
  • Partner with the Engineering Manager on team development and technical strategy.
  • Raise technical standards for performance, reliability, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Significant demonstrated impact on products and/or engineering teams.
  • Deep knowledge of a high-level programming language, such as Ruby, Python, or Perl.
  • Experience with distributed systems.
  • 2+ years as the primary technical leader for a team.
  • Experience collaborating directly with product teams and designers.
  • A proven track record of delivering value to customers or users.
  • Experience building SaaS products is preferred.
