Industrial Hygiene Specialist
The Industrial Hygiene Specialist develops and manages programs to identify and control occupational health hazards, conducts exposure assessments, supports regulatory compliance, and trains employees. The role requires industrial hygiene or related experience and hands-on knowledge of sampling equipment, exposure standards, and control strategies.

Responsibilities
Industrial Hygiene Program Development and Management
- Design, implement, and maintain industrial hygiene programs addressing chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments, including air sampling, noise monitoring, and other industrial hygiene surveys.
- Maintain exposure records and recommend engineering, administrative, and personal protective equipment controls.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOE, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations and industry standards, including ACGIH TLVs and NIOSH RELs.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert during regulatory inspections and internal compliance reviews.
Training and Education
- Develop and deliver training on chemical safety, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and hazard communication.
- Educate employees and leaders on workplace hazards and safe work practices.
Incident Investigation and Risk Assessment
- Participate in investigations of occupational health exposure incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses to identify and address potential hazards.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
- Partner with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to integrate industrial hygiene considerations into process design and workplace changes.
- Lead initiatives to improve safety culture and reduce health risks.
- Provide technical guidance on personal protective equipment selection and use.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to integrate material control and accountability controls into facility operations.
- Communicate compliance status, risks, and corrective actions to leadership and stakeholders.
Requirements and Preferred Qualifications
- Background in industrial hygiene, occupational safety and health, environmental science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience in environmental, safety, and health with a focus on industrial hygiene, preferably in manufacturing, laboratory, or energy environments.
- Hands-on experience with air monitoring equipment, noise dosimeters, industrial hygiene instrumentation, and sampling methods.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, ACGIH TLVs, NIOSH criteria, and exposure control strategies.
- Analytical skills and the ability to interpret sampling data and recommend effective controls.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and training skills.
- Proficiency with industrial hygiene software, data management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
