Staff Engineer, Developer Platform
Leads the technical direction and developer experience for open-source and SaaS FGA SDKs, CLI workflows, IDE integrations, and automation. The role requires 8+ years of software engineering experience, proficiency in multiple programming languages, and expertise in SDK design, code generation, resilient client systems, and open-source collaboration.

Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical direction for FGA SDKs, CLI, IDE integrations, and developer automation across open source and SaaS.
- Lead architectural decisions for multi-language SDKs in Go, JavaScript, .NET, Python, and Java, leveraging and evolving the SDK generator.
- Own and evolve the SDK generator framework, templates, and wrapper patterns for cross-language consistency, configurability, and maintainability.
- Establish standards for authentication flows, error mapping and handling, retry logic, rate limiting, and method-level configuration overrides.
- Ensure advanced SDK capabilities such as BatchCheck, ListRelations, and non-transactional write operations are implemented with appropriate parallelization and performance safeguards.
- Own SDK and developer-tooling release and versioning strategy.
- Improve CLI workflows, GitHub Actions, CI pipelines, documentation, and examples.
- Maintain high standards for testing, mocking external requests, dependency management, performance, and minimal external dependencies.
- Lead development fully in open source, review community pull requests, guide contributors, and improve contribution workflows and community health.
- Partner with FGA Core on API design and semantics and with internal consumers to ensure developer-friendly interfaces.
- Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the Developer Tooling team.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, with significant experience building SDKs, developer platforms, or tooling.
- Proficiency in at least one, ideally multiple, of Go, JavaScript or TypeScript, C# .NET, Python, and Java.
- Strong understanding of SDK design principles, API ergonomics, and cross-language consistency.
- Experience designing or maintaining code-generation systems such as OpenAPI Generator and templating frameworks.
- Experience designing authentication flows, retry strategies, rate limiting, and resilient client-side systems.
- Experience setting up and maintaining GitHub Actions and release workflows.
- Strong testing practices, including mocking external services and validating client behavior.
- Experience working in open-source projects and pull-request-based contribution models; maintaining or leading open-source projects is preferred.
- Ability to influence technical direction across teams and operate effectively in a distributed, open development environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with internal teams and external contributors.
