Principal Product Designer

The Principal Product Designer will partner with product and engineering to shape, prototype, and ship high-quality software experiences while improving design systems and mentoring peers. The role requires 7+ years of software design experience, strong product thinking, prototyping ability, and effective async communication.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with engineering and product to initiate and complete roadmap projects without hand-offs.
  • Identify opportunities to redesign or refine key screens and flows, along with smaller quality issues and “paper cuts.”
  • Create mockups, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals to communicate ideas and execution.
  • Guide and inspire fellow designers through collaborative critique of work in progress.
  • Use and improve lightweight design-system components.
  • Help hire teammates who can elevate the team and product.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience designing software.
  • Robust design skills and sharp product thinking.
  • Ability to engage in technical discussions.
  • Courage to ask questions, experiment, and advocate for sound design decisions.
  • Humility to accept feedback, adapt thinking, and iterate toward the best solution.
  • Experience prototyping in Figma and, beyond that, tools such as AI, HTML/CSS, and Origami.
  • Ability to distill problems and feedback into clear, focused solutions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, especially in an asynchronous environment.
