About the role

Responsibilities

  • Build and scale the embedded systems engineering organization, including organizational design, hiring strategy, and team culture.
  • Define methodologies for modular, testable, and hardware-flexible platforms, including coding standards, technical playbooks, and architecture expectations.
  • Lead adoption of AI tools for code generation, unit testing, predictive maintenance, and firmware lifecycle automation.
  • Manage technical relationships with JDM partners and define specifications and interfaces for external engineering teams.
  • Oversee the embedded technology roadmap for radar, optical perception, high-fidelity audio, and multimodal data fusion.
  • Architect and optimize Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, LoRa, and Thread communications for reliable IoT connectivity.
  • Manage SoC selection and platform portability across vendors including NVIDIA, MediaTek, and Qualcomm.
  • Own fleet-wide OTA delivery, secure boot, and HIPAA-compliant data handling.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration among firmware, hardware, and clinical teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of embedded systems engineering experience.
  • 5+ years in a senior engineering leadership role.
  • Experience building and scaling engineering departments for high-volume, mission-critical IoT ecosystems or sophisticated consumer electronics.
  • Expert knowledge of MCU-based RTOS and MPU-based Embedded Linux architectures.
  • Experience implementing AI-driven CI/CD pipelines and LLM-assisted firmware development tools.
  • Experience managing JDM or ODM partnerships in Asia.
  • Expertise designing and optimizing wireless communication channels and networking stacks for ultra-reliable IoT performance.
  • Understanding of firmware requirements for mmWave radar, optical sensors, and VoIP/WebRTC audio stacks.
  • Mastery of secure boot, encrypted telemetry, and HIPAA-compliant data handling.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
