Senior Manager, Engineering - Identity & Access Management

Responsibilities

• Lead, grow, and develop the IAM Platform engineering team, including hiring, mentorship, performance management, and career growth.
• Own delivery of an enterprise-grade access management platform covering authorization, permissions and roles, authentication, SSO, MFA/2FA, session and token management, SCIM provisioning, sharing, access controls, audit logs, OAuth, API tokens, and core data model APIs.
• Set roadmap and priorities with product, security, and engineering leadership.
• Run an AI-native team using agentic workflows to route, scope, report on, and streamline work.
• Partner with enterprise customers, go-to-market, and security teams on access-control and identity requirements.
• Own operational excellence for high-blast-radius services, including on-call health, safe migrations, reliability, and server-side security boundaries.
• Uphold standards for architecture, code review, testing, performance, and security-by-design.
• Collaborate across backend, frontend, platform, product, design, and information security.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building production SaaS.
• 3+ years managing engineering teams, including senior engineers.
• Hands-on identity and access management experience delivering authentication and authorization systems using OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, JWTs, MFA/2FA, enterprise SSO, SCIM, and RBAC permission and role models.
• Experience using AI tools and agentic workflows to automate reporting, triage, and status processes.
• Experience delivering enterprise-grade SaaS at scale and working with enterprise customers and security, compliance, and administrative requirements.
• Track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
• Technical depth to lead architecture discussions and make sound trade-offs on high-blast-radius systems.
• Security-conscious approach focused on correctness, auditability, and blast-radius reduction.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Daily fluency with AI tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience owning IAM or authorization at scale, including millions of users, multi-tenant systems, or workspace-scoped identity and token models.
• Experience designing configuration-driven or policy-based access models, RBAC/ABAC systems, authorization engines, or Zero Trust identity.
• Experience with SCIM provisioning, audit logging, and enterprise compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
• Experience moving a product upmarket and winning demanding enterprise customers.
• Experience introducing AI-native or agent-driven operating models to an engineering team.
• Experience managing engineers across backend and frontend or managing other engineering leads.
