Engineering Manager - Query Language
Lead and grow a team of engineers building core SQL database features and query engine internals for Snowflake's data platform. Requires 10+ years building large-scale systems and 5+ years leading database engineering teams.

Responsibilities
- Lead a growing team of talented engineers in the design, development and support of a highly-parallel and fault-tolerant SQL database system
- Hire great engineers to build an outstanding team
- Support engineers in their career development by providing clear feedback and developing engineering leaders
- Translate product requirements into engineering work for your team
- Collaborate with other local and global teams/leaders in the Engineering and Product Management organizations
- Use strong foundation as a technical leader to reliably deliver on complex projects while keeping the quality bar high
- Foster a culture of creativity and innovation while also promoting practical decision-making
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience building and operating large-scale systems (distributed systems, databases, or cloud services)
- 5+ years of experience leading teams to build database system internals (experience leading managers is a strong plus)
- Rock solid engineering fundamentals; query processing experience highly preferred
- Track record of recruiting and leading technical teams in a demanding talent market
- Proven experience authoring roadmap documents, project plans, and RCAs
- Strong problem solving skills and excellent interpersonal communication skills
Nice-to-Haves
- Background in database internals or large scale data processing systems, e.g., Hadoop, Spark
- Prior experience running SQL database engineering teams
- Proven experience with authoring product roadmap, preparing and reviewing project design and test plan documents, managing projects with JIRA
