Responsibilities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to build user-facing products and features.
- Contribute to engineering standards, developer workflows, and best practices; mentor engineers and grow their technical expertise.
- Own the full development lifecycle for major projects, including design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
- Write and review code and design documentation, provide feedback on product specifications and mocks, and ensure successful delivery.
- Plan, develop, and implement critical projects across Reddit’s web architecture alongside backend and client engineers.
- Promote metrics-led execution, operational excellence, and system observability.
- Partner with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders on product and engineering roadmaps.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software development experience in front-end-focused programming languages.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, or ES6.
- Experience with one or more front-end web frameworks, such as Lit, Polymer, React, Vue, or Angular.
- Experience with CSS.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Strong focus on user experience and usability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
- Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, or Thrift.
- Ability to design and implement maintainable APIs.
- Experience with large-scale web applications, high requests per second, and complex pages.
- Experience working on social products.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary: $190,800–$267,100 USD.
- Equity in the form of restricted stock units; some positions may also be eligible for commission.
