Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of Geofencer across the full stack, including a React/TypeScript single-page application with interactive map editing and Python backend services.
- Own geospatial workflows for versioned geofence editing, road-network annotation, drivable-area computation, connectivity validation, and Plan of Record releases.
- Integrate with the Zoox Road Network map graph, S3 artifact pipelines, downstream fleet and mission systems, and ML-assisted annotation workflows.
- Operate production infrastructure, including builds, containerized deployment, observability, CI/CD, data migrations, bulk annotation operations, and metrics generation.
- Drive alignment with operations, mapping, and autonomy stakeholders; translate operational needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, set architectural direction, and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
- 10+ years of industry experience building and operating production full-stack systems on large code bases.
- Strong full-stack development experience with Python backend services, React, TypeScript/JavaScript, relational databases, asynchronous task queues, and scripting/automation.
- Experience with Linux, AWS or similar cloud infrastructure, containerized deployment, build systems, version control, testing methodologies, and CI/CD.
- Demonstrated technical leadership across multi-quarter projects, architectural direction, and engineering mentorship.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with geospatial systems, including PostGIS, GDAL, Shapely, Turf, deck.gl, Mapbox GL, Leaflet, road-network or graph data models, map-based web applications, GIS tooling, or safety-critical systems.
- Robotics, automotive, or aerospace software experience.
- Familiarity with ML-assisted data pipelines, including VLM-based annotation or labeling workflows.
Compensation
- Annual salary: $285000–$350000.
