About the role
Responsibilities
Coach, manage, and develop a team of 30–100 associates (with training and support from site leadership).
Communicate policies, act as primary information source for the team, maintain compliance, and take corrective action when needed.
Create, manage, and support recognition programs across the department.
Support all safety programs and OSHA compliance; ensure procedures for building security and product loss prevention.
Own performance reporting for areas of responsibility, including on-time receiving/shipping, inventory accuracy, and packing quality.
Hold team to SLA expectations; provide concise verbal and written reports of performance and action plans.
Facilitate troubleshooting with cross-functional partners on fulfillment issues.
Serve as escalation point to mitigate risks and resolve issues.
Measure and respond to inventory accuracy gaps; identify root causes.
Review defect rates to identify trends and improvement opportunities internally and across the network.
Track learnings and best practices to contribute to SOPs.
Help prioritize resolution of systemic problems with Growth and Engineering teams.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree completed within the last 12 months, or expected within the next few months.
Demonstrated leadership experience from campus organizations, athletics, ROTC/military, student government, internships, or part-time/summer jobs (formal people-management not required).
Strong problem-solving skills and comfort learning new processes in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
Strong computer literacy, including Google Sheets/Excel.
Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills.
Collaborative, personable approach with affinity for cross-functional work.
Great attention to detail and appreciation for operational complexity.
Willingness to work any permanent shift, including overnights, holidays, and weekends.
Ability to lift up to 49 pounds, frequently push/pull/squat/bend/reach, and stand/walk up to 10–12 hours.
Ability to work in varying noise and temperature (60–90°F).
Ability to work on a secure mezzanine up to 40 feet (if applicable).

Coursework, internships, or part-time experience in warehousing, fulfillment, supply chain, or logistics.
Exposure to SQL or other reporting/data tools.
Experience collaborating with external partners or vendors.
The 4PL Area Manager acts as Flexport's representative at external 3PL/4PL partner facilities, holding partners accountable to SLAs, SOPs, and systems while owning forecasting, invoice approval, performance reporting, and building the 4PL operating model. Requires 2+ years managing warehouse/3PL teams, strong partner management skills, and willingness to travel internationally.
