Principal Presales Engineer
Leads technical pre-sales engagements for Twilio’s communications products, partnering with Account Executives on discovery, demonstrations, proofs of concept, and solution architecture. Requires substantial pre-sales or technical consulting experience, software development knowledge, and proficient German.

Responsibilities
- Partner with Account Executives on pre-sales activities, including opportunity qualification, demonstrations, proofs of concept, RFPs, design documentation, technical presentations, and enablement sessions.
- Lead the technical and product sale by recommending best-practice solutions and guiding customers in using Twilio APIs.
- Understand customer technical challenges through discovery and design, demonstrate, and present solutions that address business needs.
- Build and deliver interactive, complex customer demonstrations of Twilio Communications products for technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Identify and solve customer and organizational problems.
- Contribute to the Presales Engineering community through knowledge sharing, demonstration materials, and reusable presentations.
- Mentor less experienced Presales Engineers.
Requirements
- 8+ years of pre-sales experience selling complex technical products, or 10+ years of professional experience supporting technical products with customer-facing delivery or consulting experience.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build audience confidence.
- Strong storytelling skills and the ability to communicate complex topics to multiple audiences.
- Ability to understand customers’ communications needs and guide them toward technical solutions.
- Previous software development experience or working knowledge of one or more of the following:
- Backend development: Java, C#, Node.js, Python, or PHP
- Web development: JavaScript, HTML/CSS, React, Vue.js, or Angular
- REST APIs
- Experience in Telecom, SIP, Contact Center, or Security.
- Experience with sales methodologies.
- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in a technical discipline, such as Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficient German speaker.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and cloud application architecture, including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience working with customers in the DACH region.
