About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design and expand Skydio Cloud’s core data model and API for drones/docks and the data they produce.
  • Build core features of customer facing web app: over-the-air updates, real-time fleet health, photo/video asset management, security/permissioning, user/device management, and 3D reconstruction.
  • Collaborate across functions to design and deliver Skydio Cloud features enabling customers to scale.
  • Design secure, efficient, observable, scalable, robust software for petabytes of real-time data and video from drone fleets.
  • Leverage experience to improve engineering standards through code review and post-mortems.
  • Join rotating on-call schedule for 24/7 platform availability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience building product features from backend to frontend.
  • Capable of driving concepts through full software lifecycle: architecture, development, testing, deployment, monitoring.
  • Experience building/delivering scalable, secure cloud-based applications with high proficiency in modern cloud technologies.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with Python, Go, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, Kubernetes, Temporal, TypeScript, React, ThreeJS or similar.
  • Geospatial data, mapping, or visualization (Mapbox, Cesium, PostGIS, ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Photogrammetry, scanning, mapping, or 3D reconstruction pipelines.
  • Integrating frontend with cloud services and real-time data systems.
  • Familiarity with autonomy, robotics, or mission-planning architectures (state machines, behavior trees).

Compensation

  • Annual base salary: $170,000 - $240,000.
  • Equity (stock options), comprehensive benefits, relocation assistance, paid vacation/sick leave/holidays, 401K.
