Software Engineer, Chip Manufacturing

Build the full-stack software platform that operates chip fabrication, including process modeling, equipment control, telemetry, wafer history, and analysis tools. The role requires production software experience, strong system design skills, and the ability to work across software and physical manufacturing systems.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Own core parts of the software platform that runs chip fabrication.
  • Design systems modeling tools, recipes, wafers, masks, and process runs.
  • Build interfaces for controlling equipment and monitoring fab state in real time.
  • Ingest and interpret high-frequency telemetry, video, logs, and fabrication run data.
  • Develop metrology, process analysis, and statistical process control tools.
  • Create complete wafer histories connecting recipes, equipment state, sensor data, and results.
  • Partner with process and hardware engineers to turn process research into production manufacturing capabilities.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience shipping production systems.
  • Full-stack ability across frontend, backend, databases, and system design.
  • Ability to model complex physical processes as simple, reliable software.
  • Strong product instincts and willingness to work directly with software users.
  • Effective use of AI coding tools while independently reading, writing, debugging, and reasoning about code.
  • Strong technical communication and a high degree of ownership.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience building manufacturing execution systems, laboratory automation, or software coordinating complex physical workflows.
  • Founding engineer, CTO, or early-stage startup experience.
  • Background with hardware, embedded systems, robotics, or other physical systems.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor equipment, process control, or fab operations.
  • Hands-on experience with telemetry, time-series data, industrial controls, or real-time systems.
