Senior Quality Assurance Testing Engineer
The Senior QA Engineer validates backend integrations, APIs, data flows, and end-to-end user experiences while investigating complex cross-layer failures. The role requires 7+ years of QA experience, strong SQL and API testing skills, and proficiency with observability and debugging tools.

Responsibilities
Investigation & Debugging
- Own root-cause analysis for complex, cross-layer issues by tracking problems through the UI, APIs, databases, and dependent services.
- Investigate difficult-to-reproduce issues using logs, traces, and monitoring tools such as Datadog and Sentry.
- Distinguish frontend from backend causes through payload, status-code, and data-flow analysis.
API, Integration & Data Validation
- Create and execute integration test strategies for backend services and third-party APIs.
- Use Postman and REST clients to explore, document, and validate APIs against functional, performance, and edge-case requirements.
- Query relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL to verify application behavior and data consistency across interconnected tables.
- Contribute to design discussions to improve testability and reliability across the stack.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with engineering, product, and design teams to understand business logic, technical architecture, and domain-specific use cases.
- Write detailed bug reports with reproducible steps and relevant business context.
- Participate in sprint planning, grooming, and retrospectives.
- Advocate for quality throughout the development lifecycle and promote continuous improvement in testing and delivery.
Quality & Domain Awareness
- Identify edge cases, data anomalies, and system-level inconsistencies before production release.
- Use AI-assisted tools in day-to-day QA workflows.
- Develop an understanding of supported product workflows and anticipate domain-specific risks.
- Own quality from requirements through post-release validation.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in backend quality assurance, with a focus on integration testing, system behavior, and data validation.
- Proficiency with API testing tools such as Postman or REST clients.
- Experience designing and executing exploratory and regression test plans.
- Strong SQL skills and experience querying relational databases.
- Familiarity with asynchronous systems and contract testing concepts.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience using logs and observability tools to investigate ambiguous failures.
- Openness to integrating AI-assisted tools into testing workflows.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Experience working with remote or offshore teams is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Indicative compensation range of $110,000–$140,000 plus equity; final compensation depends on hiring level and experience.
