Senior Software Engineer, Payments Quality
Senior software engineer responsible for building automated quality strategies, high-concurrency performance tests, and emulators for mission-critical payment systems. The role requires 5+ years of quality engineering experience and hands-on expertise with automation, cloud-native CI/CD, distributed systems, and observability.

Responsibilities
- Own the quality strategy for Payments Acceptance and embed automated end-to-end validation guardrails into development pipelines.
- Design and execute high-concurrency load, stress, latency, and performance testing for high-throughput payment systems.
- Build AI-assisted test creation, synthetic data generation, automated edge-case analysis, and high-performance emulators for external systems and partner integrations.
- Implement telemetry-driven test environments using Prometheus and Grafana.
- Partner with feature teams to establish automated-testing golden paths and improve release confidence.
- Conduct blameless post-mortems and drive proactive defect prevention.
- Mentor engineers on quality engineering practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on quality engineering, test automation framework design, and performance testing for complex distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience building automated test suites with Java, Python, Go, or TypeScript.
- Strong experience with REST API testing and microservices validation.
- Experience designing and running performance, stress, and load tests using JMeter, Locust, Gatling, or k6.
- Experience embedding automated quality gates into CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions and GitOps.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, and AWS.
- Experience testing event-driven architectures using Kafka or SQS.
- Experience validating relational and NoSQL databases, data consistency, and transactional integrity under load.
Nice to Have
- Experience with tokenization, payment processing, or security products.
- BA/BS degree.
- Expertise in 3DS, network tokens, account updater systems, or payment gateway integrations.
- Experience with AI developer tools, LLM-generated test automation pipelines, or synthetic test data generation.
- Knowledge of PCI-DSS and SOC 2 compliance and cloud security constraints.
- Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment.
