Systems Integration and Test Engineer

Own systems requirements, architecture, integration, verification, reliability analysis, and failure resolution for autonomous flying robots. The role requires 6+ years of electromechanical systems experience, strong cross-domain testing skills, and proficiency in Python and SQL.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Define comprehensive, testable system requirements from product level through component level for new hardware products.
  • Establish requirements-definition standards for future programs.
  • Define system architecture, conduct system and subsystem design reviews, and establish component-selection criteria.
  • Define and implement cross-functional system behaviors and telemetry for system performance, health, and field diagnostics.
  • Perform system bring-up and performance verification during new product introduction.
  • Triage early system failures across mechanical, electrical, embedded, and autonomy domains; lead root-cause analysis and cross-functional resolution.
  • Analyze flight telemetry and field data, perform risk assessments, inform prognostic and condition-based maintenance protocols, and implement mitigations.
  • Develop processes and tools for product development and testing, including hardware and software test infrastructure, system maturity and risk tracking, and accountability systems.
  • Operate independently on ambiguous, cross-disciplinary problems and set technical direction or process standards adopted beyond one team or program.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience defining, designing, analyzing, testing, modeling, and delivering highly reliable electromechanical systems in rapid-development environments.
  • Systems-engineering approach with the ability to identify issues across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
  • Experience designing and executing system bring-up and performance-verification tests.
  • Mechatronic prototyping and fabrication skills for fixture development.
  • Proficiency in design-for-reliability principles, physics of failure, and integration risks involving PCBAs, motors, batteries, cameras, compute modules, and sensors.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and AI tooling for dataset analysis, specification definition, risk assessment, reliability analysis, and scripting commands for electromechanical systems.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining hardware and systems reliability to cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and prioritize risks, take ownership, and implement creative resolutions.
  • Track record of setting technical direction or process standards adopted beyond a single team or program.

Nice to Have

  • FAA Part 107 certification, or willingness to obtain it within the first 60 days of employment; required for certain positions.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual base salary: $196,000–$270,000 USD.
  • Equity through stock options.
  • Health insurance plans.
  • Paid vacation, sick leave, holiday pay, and 401(k) savings plan.
  • Relocation assistance may be available for eligible roles.
