Software Engineer, Fulfillment

Software engineer responsible for designing and delivering reliable, large-scale fulfillment systems for Lyft’s ridesharing marketplace. The role requires 3+ years of industry experience, distributed-systems expertise, cloud-platform experience, and proficiency with CI tools.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the roadmap and architecture based on technology and business needs.
  • Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, and maintainable code.
  • Explain trade-offs made in technical decisions.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge.
  • Build features from technical specification through execution.
  • Proactively participate in resolving ongoing incidents.
  • Unblock, support, communicate effectively, and obtain buy-in across teams.
  • Share knowledge through brown bags and technical talks.

Requirements

  • BS/MS degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or relevant work experience.
  • 3+ years of software engineering industry experience.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming.
  • Experience designing, debugging, and running fault-tolerant, highly available, large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with common CI tools such as Jenkins, Buildkite, CircleCI, or TeamCity, with proficiency in at least one.
  • Solid knowledge of distributed systems, relational databases, and NoSQL databases.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Expected base pay range in the Toronto area: CAD $108,000–$135,000.
