Partner Support Specialist, Corrections

Own end-to-end payroll and payroll tax correction cases, from investigating discrepancies and amending records and filings to reconciling financial impacts and communicating outcomes to partners. Responsibilities

  • Investigate payroll and payroll tax discrepancies, identify root causes, and assess impact across employees, pay periods, quarters, and jurisdictions.
  • Correct historical payroll records, including wages, taxes, benefits, deductions, exemptions, and work locations, and verify corrected results.
  • Determine affected filings and required amendments by period, jurisdiction, and form; provide complete documentation to filing teams.
  • Determine when corrected employee and contractor tax forms, including W-2C and 1099 corrections, are required and validate corrected figures.
  • Reconcile tax accounts by balancing calculated, collected, and filed amounts; identify tax due, refunds, or credits.
  • Determine financial impact and initiate collections or refunds with internal partners.
  • Assess materiality and filing obligations, documenting supporting rationale.
  • Communicate correction outcomes, filing changes, tax impact, and timelines to partners in clear written updates.
  • Partner with Tax Operations, Payroll Operations, Engineering, Product, Risk, and Revenue to resolve complex cases and escalate product defects.
  • Manage concurrent cases against filing deadlines and service-level commitments, prioritizing by risk and impact.
  • Identify recurring root causes and recommend process, documentation, automation, and product improvements.

Requirements

  • 3–4 years of experience in payroll operations, payroll tax, tax compliance, or client-facing support for a payroll, HR technology, or fintech product.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll corrections, account reconciliation, and amendment processes, or comparable experience correcting regulated submissions.
  • Working knowledge of multi-jurisdiction payroll tax, including federal employment taxes, state income tax and unemployment insurance, paid leave and disability programs, annual reconciliations, and local taxes.
  • Demonstrated data analysis and root-cause investigation skills, with advanced spreadsheet proficiency.
  • Ability to identify process improvements and implement operational solutions at scale, including AI tooling with accuracy validation.
  • Experience with ticketing or case management systems, especially Zendesk.
  • Availability during elevated quarter-end and year-end filing periods and for the annual three-day company offsite.

Nice to Have

  • SQL experience.
  • Experience with corrected and amended tax forms.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary: $83,300–$108,000.
