About the job

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of portfolio compliance engineers embedded in program teams.
  • Balance compliance-team capacity against an 18-month roadmap and create tailored certification plans for each program.
  • Translate unclear or evolving requirements into clear compliance strategies and defensible decisions.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to align launch timelines with certification lead times, dependencies, and external constraints.
  • Escalate launch-critical compliance risks early enough to enable corrective action.
  • Direct internal subject-matter experts and external specialists across cellular, radio, civil aviation, cybersecurity, supply chain, export controls, and related domains.
  • Collaborate with Hardware Operations, Engineering, Product, Security, Supply Chain, Sales, Government, Aviation Regulatory, and Legal teams.
  • Help shape policy and regulation through cross-functional engagement.

Requirements

  • Experience leading a team.
  • Deep technical knowledge of EMC, radio, and product safety.
  • Working knowledge of cellular and carrier certification, battery compliance, aviation, cybersecurity, supply chain, and export controls.
  • Experience building compliance processes and governance from the ground up and driving organizational adoption.
  • Ability to exercise decision rights, including communicating when a program’s launch date is at risk.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with engineering, legal, supply chain, and executive stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work beyond the formal scope of the role to address ownership gaps.

Nice-to-haves

  • Battery, cellular—including PTCRB and MNO—or NRTL compliance experience.
  • Familiarity with UAS regulatory frameworks, including FAA, Remote ID, and EASA.
  • Experience with federal supply chain, export-control, or cybersecurity requirements.
  • Regulatory advocacy or standards-body engagement experience.
