Director, Global Design & Construction

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and construction of Cloudflare’s global corporate offices and physical environments.
• Direct architects, general contractors, artists, furniture dealers, and other delivery partners to create functional spaces that reflect local culture and Cloudflare’s identity.
• Develop and implement AI-first, automated workflows across vendor onboarding, contracting, cost estimation, budget and project tracking, risk identification, and quality control.
• Establish qualitative and quantitative workplace data-collection methods, including utilization tracking and employee feedback loops, to inform workspace strategy.
• Use post-occupancy metrics and data insights to evolve design standards, physical footprints, and a generative-design-supported kit of parts for global serviced offices.
• Collaborate with Real Estate and FP&A on predictive modeling for site selection, due diligence, project cash flows, financial reporting, and risk mitigation.
• Own the global CapEx budget, including multi-year forecasting, cost-variance reporting, and executive capital reporting.
• Align Physical Security, IT, Legal, Workplace, executive stakeholders, and external partners through a unified project pipeline and data layer.
• Establish commissioning and handover protocols for completed construction projects.
• Govern the global project pipeline across international hubs and time zones, including large-scale tenant improvements exceeding 100,000 square feet.
• Ensure construction activities comply with local laws and sustainable, high-performance building standards.

Requirements

• 10–12+ years leading interior design and complex construction project management, preferably within high-growth technology companies or global enterprises.
• Experience directing a global corporate office portfolio exceeding 250,000 square feet.
• Knowledge of MEP systems, architectural principles, AV/IT, and automated building systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, collaboration, and executive-influencing skills across multiple time zones.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture, Project Management, Interior Design, Engineering, or a related field.
• Willingness to work in-office approximately three days per week and travel globally.

Nice-to-Haves

• LEED, WELL, or PMP certification.
• Experience with AI-enhanced workflows, generative design platforms, or AI-assisted operational models for legacy portfolios.

Compensation and Benefits

• Bay Area hires: estimated annual salary of $223,000–$307,000.
• Eligible to participate in the company equity plan.
