Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own backend systems supporting order handling, ledger, and settlement flows.
- Partner with product to scope features, create implementation plans, and oversee execution with cross-functional teams.
- Provide technical leadership by leading project teams and mentoring junior engineers.
- Conduct concise, constructive code reviews covering design, quality, business-domain correctness, stability, and performance.
- Monitor the technology landscape and experiment with tools that solve complex problems or improve existing systems.
- Define engineering-wide standards and guidance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues with team members and stakeholders.
- Participate in on-call and treat operability as a design requirement.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience as a technical lead and mentor.
- Deep backend systems expertise, including idempotency, transactions, concurrency control, and reliable service communication.
- Mastery of at least one programming language and framework, with the ability to become productive in unfamiliar technologies.
- Pragmatic use of AI for research, planning, coding, and code review.
- Ability to work with ambiguity, think strategically, prioritize, and execute in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and high-quality standards.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience building relationships with technical teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional experience with Ruby, PostgreSQL, or RabbitMQ.
- Experience with ledgers, settlement, payments, banking, or other domains involving monetary transactions.
Compensation
- Base salary range: $180,000-$230,000.
- Discretionary performance bonus: 15-20% of base salary, based on individual and company performance.
