About the role
Responsibilities
Set a motivating multi-year vision for device software in partnership with the Hardware team, break it down into measurable milestones, create buy-in, craft roadmaps and OKRs, and navigate trade-offs.
Partner with software and hardware engineers to understand device technology and build capabilities supporting exponential growth and world-class user experience (device boot up, software updates including AOSP/firmware/applications, device security, performance, connectivity, and accessories).
Partner with cross-functional teams to research, document, and understand Terminal customer needs for excellent in-person payments experiences.
Build empathy with end users and understand the differentiation they aim to deliver for their merchants.
Research and understand the competitive landscape; translate insights into differentiating features.
Collaborate with Partnerships to develop a roadmap for third-party hardware partnerships and communicate business value to gain alignment across Terminal and Stripe leadership.
Use metrics and analytics to inform decisions and measure success.
Define product requirements, provide clear guidance on prioritization, support development sequencing decisions, and participate in sprint planning.
Leverage technical knowledge to help teams make technical trade-off decisions.
Requirements
8+ years of product management experience or equivalent.
Demonstrated success building and sustaining scalable technology products.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; able to collaborate, engage in healthy debate, and make complex concepts accessible.
Proven track record of stakeholder management including executive communications, handling escalations, and advocating for ongoing investment.
Experience working on products with developer interfaces (App deployment, APIs, SDKs); hardware or hardware-related product experience a plus.
Technically adept systems thinker, ideally with a Computer Science degree or experience as a software engineer.
Open to travel to Asia, including Hong Kong or Taiwan.
