Systems Engineer, SSL/TLS Team
Build and operate reliable, fault-tolerant backend services for Cloudflare’s SSL/TLS certificate platform. The role requires 3+ years of backend systems experience, production Go or comparable programming experience, distributed-systems expertise, and strong Linux troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities
- Build services with RESTful APIs and dedicated datastores using Go and other languages.
- Write and maintain functional specifications for services.
- Integrate multiple services through message queue systems.
- Evaluate third-party and open-source tools.
- Design and implement alerts and operational procedures for responding to them.
- Serve as an escalation point for unresolved operational issues.
- Read and understand legacy code to migrate logic to a modern services architecture.
- Review fellow engineers’ code through pull requests.
- Build reliable, fault-tolerant systems at large scale.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience building backend systems at a technology company.
- Production-quality programming experience in Go, or experience with other languages and willingness to learn Go.
- Experience building and operating distributed systems.
- Proficiency with modern Unix/Linux development and runtime environments.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
- Track record of delivering well-tested, reliable production code.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and full-stack applications.
- Familiarity with PKI/TLS concepts and certificate management.
- Experience writing technical documentation and specifications.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Understanding of distributed-systems constraints, including performance, caching, and data storage and retrieval.
- Experience with message queues such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
