Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Linux systems software for the NAS appliance platform.
- Write production-quality Python for system orchestration, automation, upgrade workflows, and platform services.
- Develop and maintain Bash and other shell-based automation for provisioning, packaging, and operational tooling.
- Contribute to low-level integrations where C/C++ is required.
- Work with Linux internals, including systemd, memory management, storage, networking, and security configurations.
- Optimize filesystem and I/O performance using XFS and ext4.
- Develop packaging and release mechanisms such as rpm/yum or equivalent tools.
- Write and maintain automated tests using pytest and CI pipelines.
- Debug multithreaded and I/O-intensive production issues.
- Collaborate with Support on high-severity escalations.
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly for debugging, log analysis, and workflow automation while validating outputs rigorously.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of experience building Linux-based systems or appliance-grade software.
- Strong production-level Python development experience.
- Strong understanding of Linux internals, including systemd, memory, storage, networking, and security.
- Experience with filesystems such as XFS or ext4.
- Experience debugging multithreaded and I/O-intensive systems.
- Hands-on experience packaging, deploying, or maintaining system-level software.
- Experience writing and maintaining Bash or equivalent shell scripts for system automation.
- Experience designing and executing automated tests using pytest or similar frameworks.
- Experience with virtualized environments such as ESX, KVM, or Hyper-V.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools in debugging or automation workflows, with the ability to validate and verify outputs.
Nice-to-haves
- C or C++ systems-level development.
- Integration of Linux systems with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or CI/CD pipeline experience.
- Knowledge of TCP, UDP, and HTTP.
