Senior Software Engineer - Integrations
This senior engineer will design, operate, and improve Worth’s high-throughput integrations, public APIs, SDKs, and event-driven services. The role requires 8+ years of software engineering experience, strong Node.js and TypeScript expertise, resilient system design skills, and production experience with PostgreSQL, Kafka, and Kubernetes.
About the job
Responsibilities
- Own the design and implementation of major integrations and subsystems from partner evaluation through production rollout and ongoing operation.
- Build and maintain integrations with third-party data providers for KYB, KYC/IDV, AML, fraud, banking, and identity, abstracting them behind clean, versioned internal contracts.
- Design, evolve, and operate public REST APIs and SDKs with attention to versioning, backward compatibility, authentication, rate limiting, and developer experience.
- Translate ambiguous partner specifications, customer integration requirements, and vendor edge cases into clear technical designs.
- Write production code across backend and, when needed, frontend systems.
- Design PostgreSQL schemas and optimize queries for performance and data integrity.
- Build event-driven workflows that orchestrate enrichment, retries, dead-lettering, and backpressure across upstream APIs.
- Deploy, monitor, and debug containerized integration services in Kubernetes, including alerting and runbooks.
- Refactor legacy integration code into modular, testable, swappable adapters.
- Handle production incidents and harden systems against vendor outages, schema changes, authentication rotations, and quota exhaustion.
- Lead code reviews and coach engineers on integration patterns, resilience, testing strategy, and API design.
- Communicate technical tradeoffs across engineering, product, partnerships, and customer-facing teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Ownership of major production features or subsystems, ideally involving integrations or platform APIs.
- Deep expertise in Node.js and TypeScript.
- Strong system design skills, including retries, idempotency, circuit breakers, rate limiting, webhook handling, and graceful degradation.
- Experience designing or operating public APIs or SDKs, including versioning, authentication, contracts, and developer ergonomics.
- Hands-on PostgreSQL experience, including schema design and query optimization.
- Experience building or maintaining event-driven systems with Kafka.
- Experience operating containerized applications in Kubernetes.
- Ability to refactor complex integration code into modular, swappable, well-tested adapters.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and raising team quality standards.
- Ability to work effectively in high-ambiguity environments.
Success Metrics
- New vendor and customer integrations ship reliably and on schedule with rollout, monitoring, and rollback plans.
- Existing integrations meet performance and reliability targets.
- The public API remains consistent, versioned, and easy for customers to use.
- Code quality and maintainability improve across the integration layer.
- Squad delivery velocity improves through clearer technical direction and stronger execution.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience integrating KYB, KYC/IDV, AML, fraud, banking, or identity data providers.
- Experience building and shipping public SDKs.
- Experience with AWS services including MSK, RDS, EKS, S3, and Lambda.
- Experience with Terraform.
- Distributed caching experience with Redis.
- Redshift schema design and ETL pipeline experience.
- Production Python experience in backend systems.
- Background in fintech, payments, lending, or regulated data environments.
Compensation and Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision health care plan.
- 401(k) or IRA retirement plan.
- Life insurance.
- Flexible paid time off.
- 9 paid holidays.
- Family leave.
- Remote/hybrid work options.
- Free food and snacks for Orlando associates.
- Wellness resources.
