Responsibilities
- Design and implement batch and real-time data infrastructure for revenue recognition, consumption-based billing, financial reporting, forecasting, and usage pipelines.
- Partner with FP&A, Accounting, Revenue Operations, Security, Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit to translate reporting, compliance, and close-cycle requirements into scalable architecture.
- Define standards for financial data ingestion, transformation, storage, modeling, ETL, governance, lineage, auditability, and integrity.
- Build and operate finance data solutions using Kafka, ClickHouse, Tinybird, Snowflake, and related technologies.
- Establish monitoring, alerting, incident response, high availability, and fault tolerance for financial data pipelines.
- Lead architectural decisions, roadmap planning, technology evaluations, and build-versus-buy decisions across ERP, billing, and revenue platforms.
- Support forecasting, incrementality analysis, and revenue modeling with Finance, FP&A, GTM, and data science teams.
- Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence and financial-data rigor.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles.
- At least 2 years at the Staff, Principal, or Lead Engineer level.
- Experience designing and operating large-scale data infrastructure.
- Experience with Kafka and its ecosystem, ClickHouse, Tinybird, Snowflake, and broader big data frameworks.
- Experience building pipelines for financial reporting, revenue recognition, billing, or consumption-based pricing.
- Proficiency with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure and associated big data services.
- Strong background in data governance, security, compliance, data lineage, and accuracy.
- Experience supporting audits, SOX, or SOC 2 requirements.
- Strong communication, collaboration, mentoring, and technical leadership skills.
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with NetSuite, Workday, or billing platforms.
- Industry recognition or notable data engineering contributions, including publications or open-source work.
Compensation
- San Francisco base pay range: $260,000–$360,000 annually.
- Compensation may be adjusted based on employee location outside San Francisco.
- Total compensation may include benefits, equity compensation, and bonus or variable pay.
