About the role
What you’ll do
Lead strategic Security programs that are complex, ambiguous, and multi-org in nature, with direct ownership of execution across planning, dependency management, decision-making, communications, and outcomes.
Partner with Security leadership and Engineering Leads to run annual strategy planning, translate priorities into an executable roadmap, and define success metrics and leadership reporting.
Drive program development, coordination, and communications across Security and key partners, with Product and Engineering as core strategic partners and close collaboration with Platforms, Trust & Safety, and Growth.
Own the operating cadence for high-priority security initiatives, including clear milestones, governance, risk management, executive updates, and escalation paths.
Help teams deliver improvements across Pinterest systems and processes in areas such as vulnerability management, business continuity, disaster recovery, and separation of development/production management.
Define and improve mechanisms for program health, status reporting, and cross-functional accountability so leadership has a reliable view of progress, risk, and impact.
Create scalable program management practices, tools, and methodologies that raise execution quality across the Security organization.
Use GenAI as the default operating model for EP PgM execution—producing AI-assisted first drafts of core program artifacts, modernizing high-toil workflows into AI-first mechanisms (e.g., intake triage, status synthesis, action/decision extraction, risk & dependency tracking), and synthesizing signals to proactively surface risks, decision/trade-offs, and escalation paths.
Prototype solutions to augment decisions through data (e.g. dashboards, data analysis) or simplify processes (e.g. process and workflow helpers, or internal tools) using AI coding assistants (“vibe coding”).
Follow Pinterest AI guidance for risk, governance, and safety-by-design: appropriately handle sensitive data, validate AI-generated outputs, document assumptions/limits, and ensure AI-assisted workflows meet applicable policy/compliance expectations before broad adoption.
What we’re looking for
10+ years of technical program management or closely related experience leading large-scale technical programs across multiple teams and stakeholders.
5+ years of information security, risk and/or compliance experience.
5+ years of big data and/or cloud experience.
Proven success leading strategic, cross-functional programs in security, infrastructure, platform, or other technically complex domains.
Demonstrated ability to operate at Staff level: owning ambiguous, company-relevant programs; shaping roadmaps and operating mechanisms; influencing senior leaders; and delivering measurable outcomes.
Strong technical fluency and judgment, with the ability to understand system tradeoffs, identify technical risks early, and partner effectively with engineering leaders on complex decisions.
Experience building metrics, health frameworks, and executive reporting that connect program execution to business and organizational outcomes.
Strong track record of driving alignment and execution across Product and Engineering, with additional partnership across Platforms, Trust & Safety, Growth, and related cross-functional teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical, operational, and risk topics clearly to leadership audiences.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred: security programs, abuse/anti-automation, fraud or invalid traffic, account security, PCI/compliance, vulnerability management, business continuity, disaster recovery, or access/control governance.
High ownership, sound judgment, and comfort operating in fast-moving environments with incomplete information and evolving priorities.
AI-first execution mindset: demonstrated ability to use GenAI to accelerate planning, program operations, and stakeholder communications—starting with AI drafts and applying strong judgment to validate, refine, and drive decisions.
Workflow design, AI fluency, data & insights orientation: experience turning repeatable program work into durable, low-toil mechanisms and improving decision-making by using GenAI (e.g., strong prompting, vibe coding lightweight scripts/tools, dashboards, data analysis and leveraging agents where appropriate).
Safety-by-design AI fluency: experience operating within AI governance expectations (risk assessment, data handling, model/output validation, auditability/traceability) and proactively identifying where AI use is not appropriate or requires additional controls.
B.S Degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
