Responsibilities
- Build a customer-facing transactions data model that tracks user activity.
- Design and build customer data delivery through the Developer Portal, including query APIs, scheduled and on-demand exports, webhooks, and event streams.
- Own API contracts and delivery SLAs, including versioning, backward compatibility, and deprecation.
- Implement metering and billing architecture that converts events into accurate, auditable charges.
- Own the availability and correctness of reporting data writes, reads, and billing runs at production scale.
- Lead observability, data-quality monitoring, reconciliation tooling, query-performance improvements, and incident response.
- Ensure systems meet security, privacy, and audit requirements for a NIST 800-63-3 AAL2/IAL2 credential service provider.
- Champion AI-first engineering practices using tools such as Claude Code and Cursor.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years of professional software development experience building and operating production web applications. Less experience may be considered for candidates with a PhD or master's degree.
- 3+ years building developer-facing platforms, such as developer portals, API platforms, authentication platforms, cloud platforms, payments platforms, or other self-service developer experiences.
- 3+ years of experience with TypeScript, React, and modern frontend architecture, including Next.js or similar frameworks.
- Experience operating backend services using modern web frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, Node.js, Java, or similar.
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Cursor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Salesforce, NetSuite, and Snowflake, especially integrating them into automated quote-to-cash or usage-to-invoice pipelines.
- Experience designing or operating usage-based metering and billing systems.
- Experience building reporting APIs, bulk export pipelines, or streaming event feeds and their associated developer experiences.
- Experience owning platform APIs consumed by internal teams and external customers across design, versioning, and deprecation.
- Experience automating manual, spreadsheet-driven business processes.
- Experience with NIST 800-63-3, OAuth 2.0, or OpenID Connect.
- Experience in government, healthcare, or financial services.
- Experience improving engineering culture through documentation, technical standards, architectural review, and developer experience improvements.
- Experience developing and operating backend APIs using Java, Kotlin, Go, or similar languages.
- Experience designing and operating event-driven architectures using Kafka, Pub/Sub, SNS, Debezium, or similar technologies.
