About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of data analysts, scientists, and researchers investigating active threats, platform abuse vectors, and adversarial patterns.
  • Define a strategic roadmap to prioritize and disrupt high-impact abuse operations through structured research, rigorous analysis, and live experimentation.
  • Collaborate with safety machine learning teams to identify threat signals and improve automated countermeasures.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Policy, Legal, and Revenue to influence safety-by-design decisions.
  • Guide investment in automated rule engines, machine learning models, and agent moderation tools.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of people-management experience leading technical teams, including engineers, data scientists, analysts, or applied researchers.
  • 4+ years of experience in a Trust & Safety domain, such as fraud, spam, scams, account compromise, or other high-volume threats.
  • Fluency in SQL and/or Python for data investigation and pattern analysis.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills, including measurement and experimentation expertise.
  • Experience driving automation adoption in operations or incident-response workflows to increase leverage and reduce manual work.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, including translating complex technical topics for senior leadership.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using LLMs or AI agents for incident response, investigation automation, or signal triage.
  • Experience addressing scaled abuse at large social platforms, marketplaces, or other high-volume consumer products.
  • Threat intelligence research experience, including internet infrastructure and attacker tools and techniques.
  • Passion for Discord or gaming and appreciation for the communities Discord serves.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.

Compensation

  • US base salary: $220,000–$275,000, plus equity and benefits.
