Software Engineer II
Build and scale Go backend services for insurance quoting and application-submission tools, collaborating across product teams and partners. Responsibilities
- Build and scale Go services powering agent quoting, configuration, and application-submission tools before checkout.
- Partner with App and Checkout teams on tightly coupled product surfaces.
- Resolve partner-specific edge cases as distribution partners and transaction volume scale.
- Participate in architectural discussions and contribute ideas and questions.
- Write unit and integration tests for shipped code and peer review teammates’ code.
- Use AI coding tools such as Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, and ChatGPT in daily engineering work.
- Support knowledge transfer through pairing and documentation.
- Follow and improve automation and CI/CD practices.
- Drive issues to resolution, diagnose production problems, and communicate technical tradeoffs clearly.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional backend software development experience.
- Professional experience with Go and the ability to own services end to end.
- Experience with distributed systems or microservices and API design.
- Experience with REST, gRPC, OpenAPI, and Protocol Buffers.
- Experience using Docker for local development and CI/CD practices.
- Strong testing, debugging, system design, architecture, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated day-to-day fluency with AI tools in real engineering work and the judgment to evaluate their output.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range of $125,000–$146,000, plus equity.
