Full-Stack Software Engineer, Reinforcement Learning
Build end-to-end product surfaces, backend services, internal tools, vendor workflows, dashboards, and observability systems powering an RL data engine. The role requires strong full-stack skills, especially Python and modern web development, plus comfort with cloud infrastructure and ambiguous product requirements.
About the job
Responsibilities
- Develop product-facing tools for browsing environments, inspecting trajectories, reviewing task quality, debugging failures, and understanding model behavior.
- Build vendor-facing workflows for creating, submitting, testing, and iterating on reinforcement-learning environments and training data.
- Create dashboards and observability tools covering environment quality, evaluation results, data-collection progress, grader issues, reward signals, and pipeline health.
- Design backend services and APIs connecting task authoring, data collection, evaluation, QA/QC, and reinforcement-learning infrastructure.
- Collaborate with research, operations, engineering, vendors, GTM teams, and founders to turn ambiguous needs into polished systems.
Requirements
- Strong software-engineering fundamentals and full-stack experience.
- Proficiency in Python and a modern web stack such as React, TypeScript, or Next.js.
- Experience owning user-facing or internal products end-to-end.
- Product judgment and ability to build intuitive tools for technical and non-technical users.
- Comfort with cloud infrastructure, Docker, CI/CD, observability, and production debugging.
- High agency and ability to work effectively without a perfect specification.
- Strong communication skills across research, engineering, operations, vendors, and founders.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with data collection, labeling, annotation, evaluation, or research-tooling platforms.
- Experience building dashboards, review workflows, observability tools, or debugging interfaces for complex systems.
- Experience building developer tools, infrastructure products, internal platforms, or workflow products.
- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, Grafana, or similar infrastructure tools.
Compensation and benefits
- Competitive compensation.
- Fully covered medical, dental, and vision insurance for US employees.
- Lunch and dinner in the office.
- Company-wide holiday break from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day, in addition to PTO and paid holidays.
- Equinox membership, 401(k), and commuter benefits for US employees.
