Software Engineer I
Build and evolve distributed software systems that model logistics operations and automate global trade workflows. The role requires at least three years of software development experience, architecture and object-oriented design knowledge, and proficiency in a programming language such as Ruby, C, C++, Java, or Kotlin.

Responsibilities
- Build highly available, secure, distributed systems in a microservice architecture.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain systems representing logistics entities such as shippers, clients, cargo, documents, carriers, containers, and email.
- Collaborate with engineers on complex business and technical problems.
- Work with business partners and product managers to translate complex business problems into technical solutions.
- Build and launch products rapidly and incrementally.
- Maintain a high quality bar through metrics, issue anticipation, and post-mortem learnings.
- Learn the freight-forwarding and logistics domain and help automate operational workflows.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience writing software and a strong engineering background.
- 2+ years of design and architecture experience, including object-oriented analysis and design patterns.
- Knowledge of at least one programming language such as Ruby, C, C++, Java, or Kotlin.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to learn quickly and communicate technical ideas clearly to business partners, product managers, and engineers.
- Familiarity with professional software engineering practices across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, continuous deployment, testing, and operations.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience building large-scale, high-performance systems in complex, multi-tiered, distributed environments.
- Understanding of performance tradeoffs, load balancing, and operational issues.
- Preference for simple, well-tested, extensible code.
- Bias toward action and solving problems proactively.
