Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of Chess.com's official Italian social media channels across platforms including X/Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.
  • Develop, produce, and publish original, high-quality content that engages new and existing audiences.
  • Monitor and engage with conversations, trends, and key creators in the global chess community.
  • Analyze and report social media performance data and audience insights to inform content strategy and optimize engagement, reach, and growth.
  • Collaborate with marketing, content, and events teams on social media campaigns supporting company-wide initiatives.
  • Communicate with members seeking support or raising issues on social media.
  • Identify emerging platforms across relevant countries, regions, and languages, and pilot new content formats by anticipating algorithm shifts, leveraging new tools, and adapting to platform updates.

Requirements

  • Fluency in Italian.
  • Proven results managing social media channels, preferably in gaming, entertainment, or technology.
  • Knowledge of chess, including rules, notation, tournament culture, and key figures.
  • Ability to create timely, highly engaging content such as memes and viral videos aligned with internet culture and brand voice.
  • Proficiency with basic photo and video editing software.
  • Deep understanding of content strategy, platform algorithms, and best practices for major social media platforms.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for a fully distributed, remote team.
  • High ownership, accountability, and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to adapt content and messaging to Italian-speaking communities.
  • Sense of humor.
