Strategic Projects Lead - Legal

Leads legal data and evaluation programs for frontier AI labs, managing attorney teams and defining rigorous standards for legal reasoning datasets and workflows. Requires a JD, at least three years of substantive legal practice, strong analytical and leadership skills, and comfort with AI tools.

Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with frontier AI labs on legal data and evaluation needs by scoping problems, translating them into deliverable programs, and driving revenue.
  • Recruit and lead practicing attorneys and specialists across litigation, corporate and M&A, regulatory, IP, tax, and employment.
  • Design specifications for legal reasoning datasets, contract and document review tasks, statutory and case-law interpretation problems, multi-step research workflows, and grading rubrics.
  • Build grading standards and evaluation criteria for legal reasoning, including citation integrity and jurisdictional accuracy.
  • Own projects from scoping through final delivery in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.
  • Support initiatives across building, analysis, and coordination.

Requirements

  • 3+ years practicing law at a leading firm, in-house at a sophisticated company, a government or regulatory body, or a legal AI startup.
  • JD or equivalent qualification.
  • Track record of substantive legal work, including drafting, negotiating, litigating, or advising.
  • Deep command of legal reasoning and research methodology.
  • High agency and ability to execute in ambiguity.
  • Strong analytical ability to break down complex legal problems and workflows.
  • Genuine passion for AI and interest in entrepreneurship.
  • Demonstrated track record of competitive success.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Comfort with data and AI tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Python proficiency or hands-on data analysis experience.
  • Experience with legal technology, e-discovery, contract analytics, or AI-assisted legal workflows.
  • Depth in a technically demanding practice area such as securities, antitrust, tax, patent prosecution, or complex regulatory work.
  • Multi-jurisdictional or non-US legal experience.
  • Experience using AI tools to automate workflows and build products.
