Software Engineer, Integrity Foundations
Build foundational backend and data systems that detect, track, and enforce against harm and abuse on AI platforms. The role requires at least five years of software engineering experience, trust and safety expertise, and strong cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities
- Design and build scaled foundational systems for detecting, tracking, and enforcing against harm involving OpenAI technologies.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical experts to inform system design and implementation.
- Use advanced technologies to automate and augment detection and reasoning about complex harms with minimal human intervention.
- Partner with policy, trust and safety operations, legal, investigations, harm-specialized engineers, and data scientists to combat abusive actors and customers.
- Stay current with techniques and tools for defending against determined adversaries.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience in backend and data systems.
- At least 2 years of experience in trust and safety analysis, investigation, and/or operations.
- Ability to understand unfamiliar codebases and identify improvements that strengthen engineering systems.
- Strong learning, communication, and knowledge-sharing skills.
- Comfort working with ambiguity and rapidly changing conditions.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with machine learning techniques.
