Senior Platform Engineer

Build and operate core platform infrastructure, developer tooling, CI/CD, observability, and cloud reliability systems for a regulated payments platform. Requires 5+ years of infrastructure or backend experience, strong infrastructure-as-code skills, and production cloud expertise.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Own core platform infrastructure, including Terraform migration across VPC, IAM, and networking.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, environment provisioning, deployment tooling, and developer abstractions.
  • Advance observability through service instrumentation and metrics collection pipelines.
  • Standardize monitoring and alerting for business, financial operations, and synthetic monitoring metrics.
  • Harden CI/CD systems, including secrets migration and self-service deployment tooling.
  • Support GCP infrastructure and messaging reliability work, including dead-letter queue handling.
  • Develop compliance remediation tools, local development and onboarding tooling, GCP cost visibility, and infrastructure documentation.
  • Operate independently on production infrastructure changes involving Terraform, IAM, and CI/CD.
  • Partner closely with product engineering teams to unblock development.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or backend engineering with significant infrastructure ownership.
  • Experience building or substantially maturing internal developer tooling, CI/CD systems, or service platforms.
  • Experience working in a startup or small-team environment with meaningful infrastructure ownership.
  • Production experience with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code; GCP preferred, with AWS or Azure also relevant.
  • Experience partnering with product engineering teams and independently operating production infrastructure.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
  • Experience with container orchestration and building CI/CD pipelines.
  • Backend engineering proficiency in Go, Python, TypeScript, or Node.js.
  • Experience designing and maintaining internal APIs and service abstractions.
  • Familiarity with observability tools and reliability practices.
  • Understanding of secrets management, access control, and secure-by-default infrastructure.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in fintech, payments, banking-as-a-service, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience building platform tooling for audit logging, data retention, access controls, and other compliance requirements.
  • GCP-specific and cross-cloud GCP/AWS infrastructure experience.
  • Familiarity with database platform work, including provisioning, migration tooling, backups, and replication.
  • Experience scaling internal platforms during rapid engineering-team or transaction growth.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $190,000–$230,000 annual compensation, plus equity.
  • Remote-first culture with flexible working arrangements.
  • Professional growth opportunities in compliance and risk management.
