Software Engineer, New Grad
Build and deploy software for Stripe’s global financial infrastructure while solving complex problems, collaborating on multi-person projects, and learning unfamiliar systems. The role is designed for new graduates with programming experience and a bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent experience.

- Build and deploy software that impacts millions of businesses.
- Solve complex, ambiguous problems and develop solutions without clear precedent.
- Learn unfamiliar systems through independent research and mentorship.
- Collaborate on multi-person coding projects and contribute to larger projects alongside peers.
- Lead small projects independently and navigate complex technical obstacles with appropriate judgment.
- Participate in code reviews and safely update production systems.
- Use AI tools to accelerate development while rigorously reviewing, refining, and validating outputs.
- Communicate work clearly to stakeholders, teammates, and other colleagues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a directly related field, obtained by summer 2027, or equivalent work experience.
- New graduate candidates must have no more than 18 months of professional experience, excluding internships.
- Programming experience through side projects, coursework, internships, or collaborative coding projects.
- Ability to learn new programming languages and understand unfamiliar systems.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and professional judgment when using AI-assisted development tools.
Nice-to-haves
- Specialized knowledge in frontend, backend, infrastructure, or another technical area alongside broad technical skills.
- Experience with code review practices and safely updating production systems.
- Familiarity with large codebases.
- Experience independently leading small projects and contributing to larger projects with peers.
- High agency in resolving technical obstacles and knowing when to seek help.
