Responsibilities
- Own the vision, roadmap, and execution for the analytics engineering function, including core data models, semantic layers, business intelligence tooling, and pipeline infrastructure.
- Hire, manage, and develop analytics engineers; establish career ladders, leveling expectations, and performance practices.
- Set standards for data modeling, testing, documentation, code review, deployment, and data quality.
- Review complex dbt models, optimize SQL, and troubleshoot high-priority pipeline issues.
- Serve as a senior technical partner on data modeling and metric governance.
- Partner with Data Engineering, Analytics, Finance, Marketing, Product, and go-to-market teams to prioritize the roadmap.
- Build governed data foundations supporting company-wide decision-making, artificial intelligence initiatives, and generative business intelligence experiences.
Requirements
- Significant experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data architecture, including experience leading and developing teams.
- Strong SQL and dbt experience, including advanced data modeling, incremental processing, testing, documentation, and multi-environment deployment.
- Deep knowledge of dimensional modeling, including Kimball or star schema approaches, in complex B2B SaaS environments.
- Experience with modern cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift, including performance, cost, and scale decisions.
- Experience establishing semantic layer strategies and trusted metric definitions across an organization.
- Ability to translate complex business priorities into a clear data platform roadmap and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with CI/CD.
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
- Experience with AI-assisted analytics engineering workflows.
Compensation and Benefits
- USA-based roles: annual base salary of $204,000 USD to $306,000 USD.
- Canada-based roles: annual base salary of $200,000 CAD to $300,000 CAD.
