Country Manager
Leads Datadog’s Japan business, owning country strategy, revenue growth, sales execution, customer and partner relationships, market presence, and organizational development. The role requires a senior enterprise technology executive with Japanese market expertise, SaaS operating knowledge, and a record of leading cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
Country Leadership & Strategy
- Own the Japan country plan, setting priorities, defining the operating model, and aligning GTM functions around customer acquisition, usage, retention, and ecosystem growth.
- Establish the GTM operating cadence across Sales, Customer Success, Sales Development, Marketing, Sales Engineering, and Channel & Alliances.
- Lead quarterly country business reviews covering Japan business health.
- Make decisions on country priorities, local hiring, customer escalations, partner strategy, and business performance.
Sales Ownership & Revenue Accountability
- Directly manage Enterprise, Mid Market, and Commercial sales segments in Japan, including Public Sector.
- Own Japan revenue growth and consistent quarterly and annual target attainment.
- Drive platform adoption and customer growth in partnership with post-sales teams.
- Provide executive engagement and sponsorship for strategic accounts and partners.
- Support pipeline management, forecast accuracy, and deal inspection across all segments.
Talent, Culture, and People Leadership
- Own the Japan hiring plan and recruit, develop, and retain high-performing talent across functions.
- Build and maintain a high-performing sales organization.
- Champion employee engagement and a high-trust, high-performance culture.
- Lead leadership development, succession planning, and career progression for Japan leaders.
- Foster collaboration, accountability, customer obsession, and locally relevant company values.
Executive Engagement and Market Presence
- Represent Datadog Japan at public forums, conferences, press engagements, and high-level customer and government meetings.
- Build relationships with strategic customer C-suite executives and boards.
- Develop partner and ecosystem relationships with alliances, channel partners, ISVs, and system integrators.
- Engage with public-sector and government bodies where relevant.
- Lead Datadog’s brand and market presence in Japan with Marketing.
Cross-Functional Orchestration
- Oversee Japan GTM functions, align country priorities, and establish escalation paths.
- Partner with global and APJ functional leaders on Japan planning and resourcing.
- Resolve structural and operational blockers affecting team execution.
- Own Japan’s people agenda with People Business Partners, Recruiting, and People Operations.
Requirements
- Senior enterprise technology leadership experience selling solutions to C-level stakeholders.
- Experience leading first- and second-line leaders.
- Proven general manager or country-level executive experience owning full business outcomes.
- Deep knowledge of the Japanese technology market and an established executive network across customers, partners, and ecosystem stakeholders.
- Experience leading distributed, cross-functional teams and influencing without direct authority.
- Strong people leadership experience building and retaining high-performing teams.
- Commercial expertise with SaaS revenue metrics, forecasting, and operating standards.
- Executive presence and communication skills for representing the company in Japan and to global leadership.
- Ability to bridge Japanese business culture with a global go-to-market strategy.
