Responsibilities
Build Infrastructure Operations
- Maintain and operate Jenkins infrastructure and build agents.
- Troubleshoot and resolve build failures, agent issues, and pipeline interruptions.
- Ensure build infrastructure remains secure, patched, and up to date.
VMware Infrastructure Administration
- Manage VMware vCenter environments supporting engineering infrastructure.
- Administer ESX hosts and clusters used for build and test systems.
- Provision and maintain virtualized environments for engineering teams.
Automation and Infrastructure Scripting
- Develop infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, and Packer.
- Automate repetitive operational tasks across build and test environments.
- Improve infrastructure provisioning and consistency across environments.
Release Engineering Support
- Execute release build workflows and support RPM packaging processes.
- Support release qualification builds and artifact management.
- Coordinate release readiness and update distribution systems.
Engineering Infrastructure Support
- Support engineering teams by provisioning build environments and automation.
- Assist with debugging build issues and infrastructure interruptions.
- Maintain documentation and operational runbooks in Confluence.
Continuous Improvement
- Improve reliability and performance of build and test systems.
- Optimize build execution time and infrastructure efficiency.
- Evaluate tooling such as GitHub Actions runners and container-based build environments.
AI-Assisted Workflow Efficiency
- Use AI-assisted tooling where appropriate to accelerate troubleshooting, documentation, and infrastructure automation while validating outputs for accuracy and operational reliability.
Requirements
- Experience administering VMware environments, including vCenter and ESX hosts.
- 2–4 years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure engineering, administration, or build engineering.
- Hands-on experience managing Jenkins infrastructure or build systems using Groovy.
- Strong Linux systems administration experience.
- Experience creating infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, or Packer.
- Experience troubleshooting build failures and infrastructure reliability issues.
- Experience supporting engineering teams through internal infrastructure services.
- Experience automating repetitive operational tasks.
- At least 2 years administering Linux infrastructure.
- At least 2 years managing Jenkins or build automation systems.
- At least 2 years working with VMware infrastructure.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience supporting build and release infrastructure for software engineering teams.
- Familiarity with RPM packaging or artifact management workflows.
- Experience operating large Jenkins environments with multiple build agents.
- Exposure to GitHub Actions, runners, or modern CI systems.
