Installations Specialist

Installs and supports vehicle-based IoT hardware, cameras, gateways, and accessories while training customers and coordinating third-party installers. The role requires extensive automotive or technical-equipment installation experience, strong troubleshooting skills, physical capability, and frequent travel.

Responsibilities

  • Install Motive’s product suite—including gateways, AI cameras, and accessories—across vehicles and other assets, independently or with third-party installers.
  • Conduct on-site customer training, support trials and pilots, manage RMAs, and serve as the lead on-site presence for strategic deployments.
  • Oversee strategic installation projects, perform quality checks of third-party installers, and audit documentation for adherence to best practices.
  • Collaborate with Field Engineering to inform product enhancements based on field experience.
  • Create custom installation guides for specialty configurations and customer requests.
  • Provide remote assistance to third-party installers and resolve installation questions.
  • Review and resolve escalated technical issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience installing, servicing, and repairing technical equipment, preferably in automotive or related industries.
  • Knowledge of vehicle wiring and electrical systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience installing IoT devices and aftermarket electronics at scale.
  • Ability to independently manage complex installations and troubleshoot diverse equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills for customer training and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, at least 50% of the time.
