Core Software Engineer
Core software engineer responsible for optimizing ClickHouse database performance across query execution, distributed systems, caching, and low-level code. The role requires strong C++ and Unix experience, database internals knowledge, performance engineering expertise, and close collaboration with engineering and open-source communities.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to, analyze, and optimize the performance of the ClickHouse core database.
- Work on query optimization, distributed query optimization, relational operators such as aggregation and joins, caching, and low-level SIMD optimizations.
- Extend and create performance tests using real-world and synthetic datasets to prevent database performance regressions.
- Support advanced customer performance debugging, including participation in an on-call rotation and external community support channels.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to assess the performance and reliability impact of new features.
- Resolve issues, review and complete pull requests, and answer questions from the open-source community.
- Participate in code reviews and provide production debugging support.
Requirements
- Solid professional software development experience in C++.
- Experience with Unix systems.
- Strong knowledge of database internals and design.
- Experience in performance engineering, ideally involving databases or comparable high-performance systems.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, production debugging, ownership, and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to work closely with open-source communities.
Nice-to-haves
- ClickHouse experience.
- Security, privacy, and compliance experience.
- TCP/IP and network programming experience.
- Experience developing cloud infrastructure services, preferably with Kubernetes.
