Rust Engineer
Build yeetd, a dynamic BPF runtime for on-demand Linux server observability using Rust. Requires deep Linux kernel expertise, fluent Rust for safe concurrent systems, and eBPF/kernel instrumentation knowledge.
About the job
Responsibilities
- Build yeetd, a dynamic BPF runtime powering on-demand observability across Linux server fleets.
- Work close to the kernel, push Rust's concurrency model limits.
- Solve complex systems problems without StackOverflow or simple AI solutions.
Requirements
- Deep systems-level Linux experience, including debugging kernel errors and navigating kernel source/mailing lists.
- Fluent in Rust: design safe concurrent systems using borrow checker, synchronization primitives, memory models, performance trade-offs.
- Experience or excitement with eBPF, perf events, kernel instrumentation.
- Turn black box Linux behavior into observable and explainable systems.
Nice To Haves
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field focused on systems/networking.
- Hands-on Linux kernel work: patches, debugging modules, kernel-space tools.
- Low-level networking: sockets, TCP/IP stack, packet processing.
- High-performance system software: databases, runtimes, observability tooling, compilers.
- Distributed systems or large-scale infrastructure experience.
