Technical Sourcing Engineer

Own global sourcing, vendor qualification, and manufacturing coordination for mechanical, electrical, and embedded components used in autonomous construction robots. The role requires an engineering degree, 2–5 years of technical sourcing experience, global supplier exposure, and knowledge of manufacturing processes and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Source mechanical components, including sheet metal, CNC parts, and fabricated structures.
  • Source electrical and electronics components, including motors, drivers, PCBs, connectors, harnesses, sensors, controllers, and batteries.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with global suppliers across India, China, and other sourcing regions.
  • Build and maintain an Approved Vendor List (AVL) with 3–5 qualified vendors for each critical BOM line item.
  • Drive BOM standardization and technical alignment with engineering before RFQ release.
  • Conduct vendor audits and capability assessments to validate actual manufacturing capabilities.
  • Coordinate with contract manufacturers for EMS, assembly, testing, and pilot manufacturing readiness.
  • Align SOPs, quality checks, and manufacturing documentation between Origin and suppliers.
  • Drive BOM cost optimization and lead-time reduction through structured RFQs and alternate sourcing.
  • Maintain procurement trackers, inventory visibility, and supply chain risk dashboards.
  • Support long-term vendor development for future robot versions and scale-up programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • 2–5 years of experience in technical sourcing or procurement of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Hands-on global sourcing experience, including exposure beyond India.
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, EMS, wiring harnesses, and embedded electronics.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
  • Working knowledge of import/export processes and supplier commercial terms.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in robotics, automation, EV, or industrial equipment organizations.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers, including EMS, ODM, or OEM partners.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards, ISO quality systems, and manufacturing SOPs.
  • Exposure to ERP or procurement management systems.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor development skills.
