Software Engineer 3, App Analysis & Modelling
Build scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines for code analysis and schema recommendation features within MongoDB’s application modernisation platform. The role also contributes across the React/TypeScript frontend and requires 3+ years of software development experience with Python and/or Java.

Responsibilities
- Contribute high-quality, well-tested code to backend and frontend services for application analysis and schema recommendation features.
- Design and build scalable APIs and data pipelines.
- Collaborate with Product Management, engineers, and designers to deliver the product roadmap.
- Participate in code reviews and uphold software engineering best practices.
- Provide and solicit feedback on technical design documents and pull requests.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the stack.
- Contribute to CI/CD, quality, and testing processes.
- Develop features involving code dependency graphs, code analysis, relational schema analysis, query patterns, and data modelling recommendations.
Requirements
- 3+ years of commercial software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python and/or Java.
- Experience designing and building scalable, high-performance APIs and backend services.
- Understanding of relational data modelling and SQL, including schema design and query optimisation.
- Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and time and space complexity.
- Frontend development experience with React and TypeScript, or demonstrated ability to work across the full stack.
- Degree in Computer Science or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience building AI-powered features with Large Language Models and agentic workflows.
- Experience with code analysis, static analysis tooling, or programmatic code traversal and interpretation.
- Familiarity with MongoDB.
- Familiarity with cloud-native distributed systems such as Kubernetes.
