Senior Platform Software Engineer, Transport

Responsibilities

• Architect and build platform infrastructure, including service routing, cloud networking, and the control plane for managing account lifecycles.
• Develop and automate tooling to migrate customer accounts from legacy environments to the new multi-cell architecture at scale.
• Write robust, high-quality backend services and infrastructure code, primarily in Go and Python, with opportunities to work with Rust.
• Tackle cloud networking challenges including VPC management, load balancing, DNS, PrivateLink, and service mesh configurations.
• Design and implement automation using Argo Workflows, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Collaborate with product engineering, security, and customer support teams to unblock features, define technical direction, and mentor engineers.
• Own and troubleshoot distributed systems, participate in on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience in platform, infrastructure, or backend roles supporting SaaS applications.
• Experience working asynchronously in a fully-remote, distributed team.
• Proficient in Go or Python with experience building large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in modern cloud infrastructure: major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.
• Familiarity with cloud networking (load balancing, DNS, VPCs, proxies, service mesh) or strong desire to learn.
• Strong ownership, systematic problem-solving, and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with cell-based or multi-tenant architectures and large-scale account migrations.
• Track record building internal developer platforms or self-service infrastructure.
• Hands-on with nginx, Istio, Envoy, AWS Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, Kubernetes CNI/service mesh.
• Multi-cloud strategies and cost optimization experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Go, Python, and interest in Rust.
• Industry certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional) or open-source contributions.
