Builds, modifies, tests, and troubleshoots advanced electromechanical prototypes and lab systems. Requires 10+ years of hands-on technician experience, strong fabrication and diagnostic skills, and knowledge of motors, controls, and sensor interfaces.

Responsibilities
- Build, integrate, and modify electromechanical prototypes, assemblies, test fixtures, and small-volume production units from engineering schematics, blueprints, and verbal directions.
- Perform precision soldering, harness assembly, crimping, and custom wiring.
- Mill, turn, drill, cut, and 3D-print components for rapid prototype modification.
- Develop test setups, execute test plans, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and automated systems to identify root causes.
- Record technical data, analyze test results, and prepare summary reports for engineering teams.
- Improve lab efficiency, standard operating procedures, and build/test work instructions.
- Calibrate and maintain lab equipment, tools, and inventory.
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior technicians and operators.
- Maintain robotics lab safety protocols, including emergency-stop and laser-safety procedures, equipment calibration, and component inventory.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on technician experience in testing, manufacturing, prototyping, or R&D environments.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Proficiency with oscilloscopes, multimeters, calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
- Practical CAD experience and fixture-design experience using NX or CATIA.
- Understanding of machining and manufacturing methods, safety standards, and laboratory protocols.
- Knowledge of BLDC and stepper motors, servo drives, and sensor interfaces including CAN, EtherCAT, serial, and Ethernet.
- Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, written and verbal communication, and collaboration skills.
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, vocational certification, or equivalent practical or military experience.
Nice-to-haves
- CNC machining experience.
- Experience with lab automation tools such as LabVIEW and basic Python scripting.
- Relevant IPC, machining/CNC, or ISO quality certifications.
- Experience in fast-paced R&D or rapid-prototyping environments.
