Staff Instrumentation and Controls Engineer
Leads instrumentation and controls engineering for mineral-refining equipment and plant infrastructure from design through commissioning and operations handover. Requires 7+ years of instrumentation experience, control and HMI programming, capital-project execution, and leadership of engineering teams.

Responsibilities
- Lead equipment scopes from concept and modeling validation through procurement, engineering, fabrication, installation, commissioning, ramp, and handover.
- Manage external equipment providers, technology licensors, and engineering companies to deliver integrated mineral-refining scopes.
- Drive cross-functional teams of lab technicians, pilot plant engineers, process engineers, and project engineers through equipment scale-up and commercialization of novel mineral-refining processes.
- Support hiring, mentorship, and day-to-day management of junior engineers.
- Lead selection, procurement, calibration, and installation of instruments, valves, and analyzers.
- Support machine-learning applications focused on control and optimization of industrial facilities.
- Identify and support automation opportunities for capital-project execution workflows and advanced plant-control algorithms.
Requirements
- Strong engineering fundamentals and ability to solve challenging technical problems.
- Experience with equipment engineering and design, including brownfield modifications and upgrades, greenfield equipment design, operating-equipment evaluation and optimization, and operations support.
- Strong instrumentation and controls fundamentals.
- 7+ years of direct instrumentation-engineering experience.
- Experience evaluating measurement technologies, including novel technologies.
- Experience with instrument specification and procurement, detailed design, construction-team interfaces, field inspections, QA/QC, calibration, startup support, and troubleshooting.
- Experience designing, procuring, installing, and supporting operations for analyzers.
- Ability to review P&IDs and develop instrumentation deliverables.
- Experience with control-system programming and HMI programming.
- Experience in industrial manufacturing, large-scale mining or mineral processing, large-scale chemical production, or engineering, procurement, and construction environments.
- Experience leading engineers and technicians directly or indirectly.
- Experience managing and executing medium- to large-scale capital projects exceeding $5 million.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting machine-learning applications for industrial control and optimization.
- Experience with novel mineral-refining processes and chemical-process scale-up.
