Technical accounting lead
Leads technical accounting for revenue recognition, commissions, and software capitalization in high-growth SaaS. Authors policies, supports audits/month-end, advises product/GTM teams. Requires CPA, 8+ years experience, deep US GAAP expertise.
What You’ll Do
Technical Accounting & Policy (Core Focus)
- Own technical accounting for revenue recognition (ASC 606), reviewing non-standard contracts, identifying complex terms, drafting memos.
- Manage end-to-end accounting for capitalized commissions (ASC 340-40), calculating rates, amortization, journal entries.
- Lead internally developed software accounting (ASC 350-40) partnering with Engineering/Product for capitalization decisions.
- Author technical memos and maintain accounting policies/SOPs.
Product & Commercial Enablement
- Serve as accounting partner for product launches, partnerships, transactions, pricing changes.
- Translate accounting into guardrails for product/deal design.
- Collaborate on revenue data pipelines and scalable workflows.
- Act as DRI in cross-functional forums.
Operational Accounting & Reporting
- Participate in month-end close: journal entries, reconciliations, analyses.
- Prepare US GAAP financial statements and disclosures.
- Serve as key liaison for external auditors.
- Drive automation for contracts, SSP allocation, revenue processes.
- Define priorities for revenue automation using AI/ERP.
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years progressive accounting with deep ASC 606 expertise in SaaS/consumption/professional services.
- CPA required; Big 4 + tech industry preferred.
- Deep US GAAP proficiency (ASC 340-40, ASC 350-40).
- Deep contract review experience.
- Ability to advise Product/GTM on revenue implications.
- Systems mindset for scalable implementations.
- Strong communication for non-accountants.
- Organized, hands-on with entries/reconciliations.
- High-growth SaaS/tech experience.
