About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints serving financial data to internal teams and clients.
  • Build service integration layer between backend services and data platform with reliable data flow and error handling.
  • Shape architectural decisions for API and service infrastructure.
  • Balance accuracy, performance, and scalability under tight deadlines.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers on data contracts and SLAs.
  • Partner with Product teams for self-service API design.
  • Champion API best practices and contribute to technical roadmap.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years building backend systems, designing and shipping production APIs handling complex logic at scale.
  • Service stewardship mindset for reliable, observable systems.
  • Proficient in Go or Python, building RESTful APIs balancing flexibility and performance.
  • Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, BigQuery), query optimization, connection pooling, data consistency.
  • Cloud-native development on GCP, containerization, monitoring, incident response.

Nice-to-Haves

  • GraphQL API experience and tradeoffs vs. REST.
  • Financial domain knowledge in fintech/banking.
  • Collaboration with data engineering on modern data stacks.
